.cb ENERGY AND THE ANTI-TECHNOLOGY IDEOLOGY

The thesis of this paper is that one can understand the
present state of American energy policy only in terms of an
ideological conflict - and not solely in terms of the technological
options and their advantages and disadvantages.

1. The growth of the anti-technology movement is not a reaction
to any specific errors or misfortunes in the use of technology.
Its roots are more in the sense of self-importance of people
isolated from technology by their education and inclinations,
and in the existence of a power vacuum now being filled by judges
and lawyers. I don't pretend to a full understanding of its sources.
